Apply to be a Camp SOAR Counselor

Please be aware that although there is no deadline to apply, the sooner your application is received, the better your chances are of being accepted. The mandatory training is held on the Saturday prior to camper arrival. All counselors, new and returning, will attend the training session.

You will create an account on that website and please save the link for ease of access in the future. Counselor acceptance letters will be emailed in the spring, usually around the end of March/early April.

TRAINING: Counselors will be expected to attend in-person training, the Saturday before their assigned week of camp begins.

Counselors assigned to Week 1 will attend training on July 6th, 2024. Arrival time is TBD in the afternoon.
Counselors assigned to Week 2 will attend training on July 13th, 2024. Arrival time TBD in the afternoon. Counselors returning from week 1 usually arrive later on the second Saturday.

Most counselors are 14 years old by July 1. Counselors will need to provide their own transportation to and from Camp SOAR. Everyone must have received a tetanus shot no earlier than 2013, often referred to as TDap or DTaP on most immunization records.

Please review the Expectations & Rules of a Camp SOAR Counselor

Throughout training, counselors will learn about a day at camp, proactive and some reactive stratgies for behaviors, communication skills, and ways to form connections with fellow counseors and campers. Training day provides a chance to meet all of your wonderful fellow counselors who help make Camp SOAR such a terrific experience for everyone: campers, counselors, and staff.
