Camp Fees

The cost of Camp SOAR is $500 per camper. The actual cost to run camp is over $1300 per camper per week. Your tuition is subsidized by donors. If you would like to pay more than the $500 tuition, we are truly grateful for donations.
We offer scholarships to anyone interested. Scholarships are awarded on need-based criteria. After your child has been accepted you will receive information to request a scholarship application. Scholarship applications are due by May 1st. Camper families are welcome to apply for full or partial scholarships to attend Camp SOAR after their child has been accepted.
No fees are collected during the application process; it is free to apply for Camp SOAR.
Payment is required by the spring if your child is accepted for the summer.

Important application information for future summers:

Camper Applications

Please contact Sari Rieger at srieger@cr-triangle.org to request a new camper application or additional information.

New camper acceptance is a two-step process: an initial screening and interest is followed by a review of the completed application by the Camp SOAR leadership team. Due to the high demand for placement, campers may only attend one summer session each year. Camp applications are available in winter.

All returning age-appropriate campers on the waitlist will be automatically included on the mailing lists for future years to receive applications. Spaces fill quickly, don't wait to complete your child's camper application.

Acceptance into Camp SOAR is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to;

  • Amount of beds/rooms available on the camp grounds
  • Total amount of counselors that apply
  • Amount of returning counselors that apply
  • Amount of previous years camper graduates
  • Behaviors and medical supports needed for campers compared to experience level of applied counselors
  • Completion of all medical paperwork
  • Our office receiving tuition by May 30th

Counselor Applications

All counselors are volunteers.  No compensation is received other than the knowledge you have participated in a life-changing experience and have helped our campers enjoy a week of fun summer activities. You must be 14 years old by the start of camp.

Counselor’s volunteer time may be applied to service hours for school and religious purposes, up to 144 hours per week at Camp SOAR. Counselors may volunteer for either week or both weeks, but must commit to the full session and attend training. For more information and a counselor application, please review the Expectations of a Camp SOAR Counselor.

For each session, we will accept 85-100 counselors. Some will be one-on-one with a camper, others will be supporting cabins and in leadership positions.

Ladies: Keep in mind there is always a waitlist for female counselors so don’t wait to get your application in to us. Along with experience, we take into account when your application is received.

Guys: We can’t accept camper boys until we know you will be there for sure. Please get your applications in as soon as possible.

We swim in Geneva Lake, which is a popular fishing lake. Everyone MUST have received a tetanus shot no earlier than 2013. Please include the date of your tetanus (DTaP) and measles (MMR) vaccine on your application.
