Preadoptive Consultations (Domestic and International)

The choice to adopt a child is one of the most significant decisions a family will make in a lifetime. Prospective adoptive parents want to be educated and informed as they move through this process. They need to understand the risks associated with adopting a particular child as well as the protective factors that child brings to her new home and family. As they navigate the adoption process, prospective adoptive parents benefit from support and guidance in decision-making as well as assistance during the transition period when the new family comes together.

Pediatricians at Children's Research Triangle provide expert consultation to parents as they move through the sometimes overwhelming process of adopting a child. Professionals at Children's Research Triangle have expertise in issues related to domestic and international adoption.

Preadoptive services available include:

  1. Preadoption Consultation, either in the office or via telephone, with detailed review of medical information, photos, and videos
  2. Continuing support via email or telephone
  3. Comprehensive developmental and psychological evaluations after adoption
